Businesses remain unaware of the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), but expressed tremendous interest to participate in the program. These findings emerged from the survey conducted by The Climate Reality Project Philippines and SUSTAINARUMBLE!, which assessed the level of awareness and needs of over 400 businesses and companies to participate in GEOP.
Companies that have switched to renewable energy through the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) attested that they have generated significant savings in energy costs, during the webinar “100% Renewable Energy Within Reach: Empowering Entities through the Green Energy Option Program” held online on 11 November 2022.
Availing the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) will bring significant savings on the electricity costs of business enterprises, a representative of Vita Tropic Ice Company, Inc. said during The Climate Reality Project Philippines’ energy literacy and movement-building training session held earlier this month.
Vita Tropic is among the few and first GEOP switchers in the country. The GEOP is a new mechanism implemented by the DOE that allows electricity end-users with an average 100kW or above to source their electricity from renewable energy sources.
