Sparks fly at Clark— how clean energy can power profitability and sustainability in emerging economic hubs

True to its mission of driving the country’s low-carbon transition, The Climate Reality Project Philippines in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), has once again kickstarted its Choosing REnewables, an information campaign and public consultation on the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) and other voluntary renewable energy mechanisms, to drive the private and public sector’s shift to clean energy.

Its first stop was at Clark, Pampanga, held at Quest Plus Conference Center last October 28.

#MoveTogether2025: Stakeholder collaboration and data-driven action towards sustainable, inclusive and efficient transportation system

The Climate Reality Project Philippines gathered representatives from national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and the academe for Klima Pandayan #MoveTogether— a capacity and movement building workshop on sustainable urban mobility.

“This event puts a spotlight on Sustainable Mobility -by sharing innovative solutions for active and public transport infrastructures and integration, this can lead to a movement towards a more sustainable, inclusive and efficient transportation system,” said Aimee P. The Climate Reality Project Philippines joins hundreds of civil society organizations in expressing dismay over the outcome of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee’s second part of the fifth session for a global agreement to end plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-5.2).

Instead of a robust and legally binding Global Plastics Treaty that addresses the entire life cycle of plastics—from extraction of raw materials to production and design to product use and to disposal—the world is left to wait in the dark as the talks once again failed to reach an agreement.

The Climate Reality Project Philippines, with support from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), recently conducted a series of regional consultations on multistakeholder engagement in achieving the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

Held consecutively in Quezon City, Bacolod City, and Davao City, the Reimagine NDC consultations gathered representatives from the local government, the private sector, and civil society to discuss their roles in advancing the nation’s climate commitments.

Greenwashing liquefied natural gas undermines PBBM’s climate promises

In his past State of the Nation Addresses (SONA), President Marcos Jr. has repeatedly cast himself as a champion of climate action, placing renewable energy “at the top of [his] climate agenda”.

He has previously pledged to raise renewables’ share in the power mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040, backed by nearly P3 trillion in green-lane certified investments. Yet since he took office in 2022, renewable energy’s share has stagnated at around 22%.
