Official statement on the Global Plastics Treaty Negotiations (INC-5.2) in Geneva, Switzerland

The Climate Reality Project Philippines joins hundreds of civil society organizations in expressing dismay over the outcome of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee’s second part of the fifth session for a global agreement to end plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-5.2).

Instead of a robust and legally binding Global Plastics Treaty that addresses the entire life cycle of plastics—from extraction of raw materials to production and design to product use and to disposal—the world is left to wait in the dark as the talks once again failed to reach an agreement.

Klima Eskwela 2025 kickstarts in Butuan, empowers youth to find climate action niche

On May 21, The Climate Reality Project Philippines held its first leg of Klima Eskwela
at Caraga State University in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

Designed to engage students in addressing the climate and plastic crises, Klima Eskwela is an offshoot project of the Climate Reality Philippines’ Plastic-Free Reality Program. Every year, the organization takes Klima Eskwela to different provinces, training student leaders in movement-building for climate action.

This year, Klima Eskwela also serves as a launching pad for Project Niche, an incubator program that empowers the youth to solve their communities’ problems with plastic waste.

Climate Reality PH and PBEST forum urges robust EPR Act implementation for climate action

In the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections, climate action is on the ballot; this is according to a recent survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) and the Stratbase ADR Institute for Strategic and International Studies (ADRi). Climate hope blooms among Camarines Norte youth

Hosting its biggest group of students yet, Klima Eskwela capped off a successful 2024 run with a stop at the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC).

Klima Eskwela aims to make advocates out of the youth. Its lectures were designed to leverage students’ experience with global warming and from there stir them into action.

More than 80 student leaders from CNSC and neighboring schools joined the two-day event, wherein they were taught to craft campaigns against plastic dependence. Also included in the attendees were senior highschool students.

Klima Eskwela goes to Lapu-Lapu City, empowers youth to champion climate and waste solutions

As the popular Filipino adage goes, the youth is the hope of the country. Or, as they say in Cebu: ang kabataan ang paglaum sa nasud. When it comes to climate action, the youth have a crucial role to play as the Earth’s defenders.

To empower this generation of climate advocates in the Visayas region, The Climate Reality Project Philippines brought Klima Eskwela: Climate Science, Arts, and Action to Lapu-Lapu City College (LLCC) last August 15 and 16. This two-day workshop, co-organized with the Climate Change Commission (CCC), Lapu-Lapu City Government, and LLCC, offered youth leaders an in-depth exploration of climate science and practical strategies for addressing the linked challenges of plastic pollution and climate change.
