Responses to On the hills of East of France

Enchantment

by Elyssa Mapanao

The masses are in a trance.
Enchanted by the words of those in authority.
To their ears, they whispered:
“Pay no mind, it’s for the progress of mankind.”
With their hands, they close their eyes.
Eventually falling into deep slumber.
Benighted by the horrors of reality.
The world is on its path to demise,
Until mankind awakens to the truth.
Wake up.
